Our Quality Commitment to Our Customers
At Perelandra, you can be confident about the quality of the products in our store. You won't find products on our shelves that contain high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners, artificial preservatives or hydrogenated oils- we don't think these ingredients belong in food at all! In 2010, we began requiring that all new products containing soy, corn, canola and beet ingredients be derived from either certified organic or certified non-gmo sources. In 2015, we began requiring new items not contain carageenan. We actively seek out products from small, local, quality-focused natural and organic manufacturers- we were even cited in the Zagat Food Lovers Guide for our excellent selection of "non-mass market brands"! Our store buyers have many years of experience and a great love for natural and organic products. That passion and expertise shows in our diverse, extensive offerings to you.
Perelandra is an independently and locally owned and operated business. In a world where corporate chains dominate the marketplace, we believe that just as organic foods are better for our bodies and the environment, small business is better for the economy and our community. We love to give back! Every year we donate more than 50,000 pounds of food to City Harvest, Food Not Bombs Brooklyn & Manhattan, The Touch Dinner, Quaker Meeting House and many other organizations. All of the unsold food from our kitchen is donated on a daily basis to Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, an organization that brings it to local shelters that same day. Additionally, we offer our staff members paid volunteer time to encourage them to take time away from work to volunteer in New York City. Our customers and community are the most important part of our business and we love being a part of Brooklyn Heights!
